Wu and a training plan

Did you get to Target to see the Jason Wu line? It dropped Sunday (that's my rapper lingo coming out), so if you weren't there odds are you didn't see much. I got there at 7:40 - store opened at 8 - and I was the 4th one in line. It was fun to meet people also there to check out the Wu. I found myself looking at body types and seeing if anyone would be in competition with me for sizes. The doors opened at 8:00 sharp and people took off! They were actually running! This was my first experience with any of this - Black Friday included- so I was not prepared for the elbows, grabbing, and running that ensued. I was 4th in line and was able to score three items to try on. I heard one Target worker say that the shelves were cleared at 8:01. That sounds amazing, but there also was not much to the display. A few dresses, a few shirts, a few skirts. That's it. Here's what I tried on:

The one I really wanted - my Target didn't have this dress

This was really cute and fun

The sleeves on this one were too small, but cute dress

I was home by 8:45 and had the whole day ahead of me to do one training run. I had to do a 5K race - or race like run. I figured "no problem" and put it off until after lunch. I chose to do my run on the treadmill and put on Sixteen Candles. Who doesn't love a Molly Ringwold/John Hughes film?

My run was not fast. It was fast for where I am right now. I am learning that I cannot compare myself to anyone else and I really cannot compare myself to my previous seasons. That's hard to remember, but I'm trying to just look at this season and see what I can do now and where I am now. Easier said than done. The run was good (but now my stupid hip hurts) and I ran it much faster than any other runs this season - making it very race-like.

I'm half way done with my 1/2 marathon training plan. I'm pretty happy about that, I know the longest runs are waiting for me but the beginning is always hard because you are getting back into training in general. I have been headache free for almost a month too! I did get one last night from a super bowl hot dog. At least I think it was the hot dog. Grrrrrrr.

Toying with the idea of getting these. What do you think?

The best Christmas gift I got was.....

How's that for a teaser? Any guesses?????

Here are a few things that would have been great gifts....but sadly, I did not get.

Who wouldn't want this? No more groping for TP at night!

Duh! Cookie bowl for the ice cream sundae I'm supposed to stay away from anyway? Genius!

I do LOVE Dexter. Perhaps some blood coasters.....

LOVE the edge of a brownie. This pan was MADE for me!

Sam made me a Pain Cave. Yep. Pain.Cave. A place where we can go and workout (bike, run, weights) and not worry about weather, time of day, or babysitters. I LOVE it.

It does have a TV in it now with a DVD player. The space heater is great, but we haven't even really needed it. I've logged some serious miles in there already! The boys even have small chairs they put in there and they will talk to me, cheer, and watch a movie with me. Yeah for Sam!

What does 2012 look like?

So far 2012 has been great. I'm really hoping to keep that up - it just feels so fresh at the beginning of the year.

The family and I have TONS going on this year. Let's take it month by month:

January: Sammy turns 5!!!!!
February: Sam turns 33!
March: Sam and I run the 1/2 Marathon (sam's 1st!)
March: My sister gets married in St. Lucia. Jealous?

April: 1st tri of the season and Cherry Blossom 10 miler

 April: Mason turns 4!

May: 1st Mcdonnell Lake swim
June: Sam does the I love this Tavern Tri in Richmond
July: Redeem myself at Colonial Beach sprint tri
August: Off! That's right, nothing on the books :)

September: ending the season together in Reston for the perfect 10
Now, we are done in September. We no longer pretend that the cold training, water, and runs don't bother us. We are cold weather wimps. Whew, that felt good to say.

Here's to 2012. Staying healthy, getting fit, and having fun!

If I were a super hero I'd fight.....

Migraines.

That is my official diagnosis after seeing the neurologist on Friday. What a weird character she was. So nice and helpful - but might be the most socially awkward person I've met. She walked into the room where I was sitting with Sam. Her first question? "How do you know each other?". What? You mean, my husband? It just got weirder and more awkward from there. Thankfully Sam held his tongue. Although, I'm sure any of his regular jokes would have crashed and burned anyway -she was  not the joking kind.

I got meds, taking them every night, and I already feel better! Still slight headaches, but nothing like I was getting. On the way home from the appointment Sam was going on and on about "I can't believe the Dr. didn't laugh at my joke...." Man, she was the weirdest!

So, the plan now that I know what's wrong with me and I'm on the mend????

Training

I've got my first race planned: rock n roll 1/2 marathon in DC. Training starts Dec 26th, which means I need to get ready. Yep. Train to be ready to train. It's a crazy world I live in here. The best part? Sam is going to run it with me - his first 1/2 mary! LOVING that!

Any great races in the Virginia area I NEED to have my training schedule for 2012?
