Superfit DC: Team Booty Crew and Christmas Abbott

It's been almost 2 weeks since Superfit DC. I'm recovered. It did not take 2 weeks........well, maybe mentally. It's such a big build up. It's such a long day. My partner, Holly, and I had a blast. We work well together, this was our second competition together......hopefully with many more to come. Here's the scoop:

WOD 1:

Yep. Thrusters. 3 of them. Heavy. I had a hard time not jerking at the top - but I hit 125# which was awesome because my goal was 115#!!!

WOD 2:

I should have known better - but on paper my partner and I were all "We got this!". Turns out that this was hard. Not in a "I hope we can do the movements" kind of way.....but it was just a lot of arm/upper body stuff and time went FAST!

WOD 3:

Ew. Wall balls. Bleh. We did sets of 10 with fancy throw high and switch. Yes. We are fancy, even when tired. My partner did the last 20 and I headed to the rower. We ended with 81 calories.

Christmas Abbott was there. That was awesome. My second time meeting her....no big deal (yes it is).

Don't worry, I'm working on my arm placement

My husband LOVED meeting her (only his 1st time)

You don't have a crotch shot pic? Weird......

This was my husbands first two-person competition. He did great!

on the rower

wall balls of death

thruster city with a unicorn shirt

toes to bar - again, that unicorn shirt was magical

You are right. I am not in this pic. My partner had bronchitis and I took her home as soon as we finished....missed the group pic

Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer, take pictures, and take video. It is always so much fun to hang with friends and work out!

Mid Atlantic Regionals - Recap

This weekend I spent some serious time cheering at the Mid Atlantic Regionals. Lucky for me they were at the Patriot Center - right across the street from my neighborhood! YIPEE!!!

Of course I'm there to cheer on people I know, people I follow on instagram (helping me stalk awesome athletes), and to be inspired. I'm also there for merchandise.....shirts, socks, drinks, more shirts.......It was great! You may remember Erin - her team won 2nd place! Team Syndicate will be going to the games!

I discovered a new brand - Afrobrutality. My friend Phil has been liking their stuff and reppin their shirts - so I had to get in on that. I am sporting the Afrobrutality Unicorn. Yep. A unicorn - Don't worry, I also got the Barbell Bitches tank :)  The owner, Syn, is pretty great. His company is about community, battling diversity in Crossfit, and bringing awareness through clothing and apparel. Since I'm a t-shirt junkie I could fully support this cause. I got to talk to him at Regionals a few times, during a few different purchases. Cool guy for sure.

This is my gansta face - needs some work

I got to meet Christmas Abbott!!!! She even signed my shirt! Such a nice person and so inspiring!
Adam Klink reppin I AM BEST MODE USA - I wore the same shirt the day before!
It's not fun unless you can sit in a giant shoe. With your brother.

Nachos. Shades. Perfect.
Ben Smith handstand walkin
Ben Smith Snatch
Reppin IABMUSA
Crossfit Peeps

Super fun weekend of being inspired and watching people do what they LOVE to do. I drank my weight in Kill Cliff  and then ended the weekend with a crab boil.

Star Struck

I live for celebrity gossip. My kids know that magazine day is my FAVORITE day of the month in the mail. They get super excited for me and scream from the driveway "Mom! It's Magazine day!!!!" When I'm going on vacation or a trip I will hoard my magazines for a bit so that I can have a HUGE stack to read.

We are going to Cancun for Turkey Break. The magazine hoarding for that will begin soon.....

To stalk my favorite Crossfit Celebrities I mainly use Instagram, Facebook, and blogs. My favorites are Katie Hogan and Lindsey Valenzuela. They are awesome. Super fit, super strong, and always look like they are loving what they are doing.

Lindsey

Katie

Earlier this year Katie Hogan did a seminar at our Box (hehehehe) about lifting. I hadn't fully developed my Crossfit Crush on her yet and I didn't go (kick myself everyday). Not only did peeps get to listen to her awesome advice....there was a meal involved! Ugh - double whammy that it was at Bon Chon. Who doesn't love that fried chicken? No one. Everyone loves it. Not gonna lie - I sent Katie an email. I felt like the biggest nerd. I was nervous, I'm sure it sounded lame....but whatever. Some time went by and I forgot about the email and figured she was a busy person and hopefully she read it, but no big deal. Then.........this morning I woke up to an email from none other than Katie Hogan! I almost passed out. It was a quick email to thank me for writing her and she hoped I was still enjoying Crossfit. Swoon. I'm going to print it - my first celebrity email :)

So - my Crossfit heros are tough chicks that smile a lot and lift even more. Hopefully I can mirror that enjoyment and hard work (minus the fact that they are professional athletes, duh). And next time I have the chance to meet them I will take it!

ps. I also was within arms length of Christmas Abbott. Did I ask for a pic? Nope, I choked. Completely star struck.
